Torremolinos was the first of the Costa del Sol resorts to be developed and is still the most popular in the region. The beach which extends for nearly 8km (5.0 miles), includes cycle and skating lanes alongside the fully illuminated promenade and features many beach bars and local chiringuitos. The eastern part of the beach, known as Los Álamos, offers a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere all-year round. They also have windsurfing and kitesurfing among many water sports activities to offer during the summer season.

Located between the beaches of La Carihuela and Playamar is El Bajondillo. It is an impressive expanse of beach 40 meters wide and 1 kilometer long, right in the center of the town and one of the most visited. Definitely an urban beach, it is highly rated by residents and tourists due to its variety of services. Any time of the year tourists can enjoy the sea breeze. The beach restaurants provide different types of local fish cuisines freshly caught within the day!

At the seaside, there are the usual rentals available of bicycles, mopeds, electric scooters, jets skis, surf boards, parasailing, sailing, paddle, ski boats and snorkelling.

The Mediterranean resort town of Torremolinos in southern Spain’s Costa del Sol region is a sunseeker’s haven. In the 1950s, this former fishing village became one of the most popular destinations for sun-loving tourists. Stretches of dark, sandy beaches offer a multitude of watersports and beach activities, while the many bars, restaurants and local sights occupy holidaymakers.

Torremolinos, just south of the central city of Málaga, has many amazing seafood restaurants and hotels along the waterfront La Carihuela village. The pedestrian-only Calle San Miguel is a bustling shopping district that leads directly to Playa Bajondillo.

Discover the bustling centre of Torremolinos Old Town that stretches from the seafront promenade. Starting along the section known as Paseo Marítimo, make your way in toward the oldest section of the town to stroll along the pedestrianised Calle San Miguel. It’s lined with restaurants and bars, as well as shops ranging from jewellers and fashion boutiques to souvenir stores and delicatessens.

As you meander the streets, you’ll also cross paths with Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel, an 18th-century Andalusian neoclassical-style church in a small square at the end of Calle San Miguel. Another historical point of interest is the only remaining trace of Torre de Pimentel (Tower of the Mills), which dates back to the 1300s.

Located to the southwest of Torremolinos municipal area, the thriving area of La Carihuela has become a cosmopolitan home for gastronomy and leisure in recent years. A remarkable dish is the pescaíto (small fried fish), which you can enjoy at many restaurants in the La Carihuela area of Torremolinos.

Set just a few streets back from the beachfront promenade, you’ll find yourself lost among the charm of the quiet grid-like streets characterised by low-rise houses dressed in bright bougainvillaea. Peppered throughout the various nooks of La Carihuela are a few sparse remnants of the fishing village, a throwback to the area’s seafaring past.

The Rockin’ Race Jamboree is an annual festival dedicated to paying homage to American “root music,” blues, country, folk, rhythm and blues, rock… from the 40s, 50s and early 60s. The festival includes so many programs, concerts, food trucks and classic cars show. The whole festival is held from 5th to 9th of February, 2025.

The main concerts, which included rockabilly, blues, surf, rock and roll and boogie-woogie, were staged at the Principe de Asturias auditorium, the Hotel Barracuda and Plaza del Remo, as well as in several bars in the town.

Straightforward, welcoming and carefree, Benalmádena has come a long way since the 1980s and 1990s. Today, this modern resort is a forward-thinking destination that has added oodles of culture, style and charm to its incumbent “cheap ‘n cheerful” starting point. Bordered by Torremolinos and Fuengirola, Benalmádena Costa’s architectural make-up is unashamedly distinct.

While its neighbours streaked ahead in the package holiday race, Benalmádena grew at a more considered rate – today, the promenade is wide and spacious, backed by a long line of superb cafés, bars and restaurants, and fronted by a huge beach.

The award-winning Puerto Marina yacht harbour combines living and office space, plenty of restaurants, several bars and shops and even a Sealife Centre. Beyond this, the wide tree-lined streets are fresh and modern, hinting at a classically Spanish influence but quite international in their make-up. The atmosphere throughout town is impressively welcoming, with a distinct family-friendly feel evident at every step.
