Malaga City Spain Beautiful City Update April 2022 Costa del Sol | Andalucía [4K]

Málaga is a city and municipality of Spain, located in Andalucía, in the south of the country. An important tourist destination, Málaga is also known as “the capital of the Costa del Sol,” with an estimated 6 million tourists visiting the city every year.

It is the sixth most populous city in Spain, the second in Andalucía and the forty-sixth in the European Union. It is also the largest and most populous coastal city in southern Spain.

Due to the fact that the city presents a wide overlap of traces of the passage of civilizations throughtout the centuries, both from the East and from the West in such a small urban space, Málaga has been declared a Historic Site. Remains from the eras of Phoenicians, Punics, Arabs, Romans, and etc., turn the city center into an authentic historical “palimpsest” in a way monuments such as the Roman Theater, the Cathedral, the Alcazaba, the Customs House, the Jewish Quaters and the rich underground archeological heritage coexist.

The Calle Larios offers a mixture of well-known chain stores and boutiques for shopping, and cafetería’s and ice cream parlors as well. Through its streets you can find more shops and restaurants and bars.

Málaga cuisine is a collection of all the gastronomy of the province and is part of the Mediterranean diet. The grilled sardines or “espetos,” the anchovies or “boquerones”, both pickled and fried, and the fried fish or “pescaíto frito” made with anchovies, mackerel, mullet, octopus or squid, are the mosst typical dishes but also include noodle casserole or “cazuela de fideos,” the gazpacho, the gazpachuelo, the migas, the Málaga salad, the ajoblanco, and the porra antequerana, among others. Málaga is also known for its sweet wines that have been produces since ancient times. Rum and brandy from Málaga are also traditional.

La Carihuela Torremolinos Spain Beautiful Day Update March 2022 Costa del Sol | Málaga [4K]

La Carihuela is located in the eastern part of the municipality of Torremolinos. It was in years past a traditional fishing village inhabited by people who dedicated themselves to the seafarer’s life. Now, only a few picturesque nooks and cranies remain of the old quarter as reminders of the place’s former identity.

For years now, La Carihuela has been a cosmopolitan center in which hotels, leisure and gastronomic establishments are found. It is precisely the district’s gastronomy that has earned this strip of the Torremolinos coast its well-deserved fame that has spread beyond all borders, and all is due to the remarkable “pescaíto” or small fried fish that is served in the restaurants in the area.

Defined by its summer beach scene, La Carihuela draws locals and tourists for its weather along with the spectacular sea views, hutlike chiringuitos that serve local cuisines, and different water sports activities. Kiosks, rental services of sunbeds and water equiment such as pedal boats are available for every holidaymakers.

The Mediterranean resort town of Torremolinos in southern Spain’s Costa del Sol region is a sunseeker’s haven. In the 1950s, this former fishing village became one of the most popular destinations for sun-loving tourists. Stretches of dark, sandy beaches offer a multitude of watersports and beach activities, while the many bars, restaurants and local sights occupy holidaymakers.

Boasting an enviable mix of green spaces, cultural sights and coastal views, Torremolinos is an ideal destination for your next summer holiday. More than just warm Mediterranean coastline, the resort region has a rich blend of family activities as well as a beating nightlife for young travellers.

Torremolinos, just south of the central city of Malaga, has many amazing seafood restaurants and hotels along the waterfront La Carihuela village. The pedestrian-only Calle San Miguel is a bustling shopping district that leads directly to Playa Bajondillo.

Discover the bustling centre of Torremolinos Old Town that stretches from the seafront promenade. Starting along the section known as Paseo Maritimo del Bajondillo, make your way in toward the oldest section of the town to stroll along the pedestrianised Calle San Miguel. It’s lined with restaurants and bars, as well as shops ranging from jewellers and fashion boutiques to souvenir stores and delicatessens.

As you meander the streets, you’ll also cross paths with Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel, an 18th-century Andalusian neoclassical-style church in a small square at the end of Calle San Miguel. Another historical point of interest is the only remaining trace of Torre de Pimentel (Tower of the Mills), which dates back to the 1300s.

Torremolinos Spain Beautiful Weather Town & Beach Update December 2021 Costa del Sol | Málaga [4K]

Torremolinos is one of the economic engines of the province thanks, among others, to its tourism industry and the activity generated by the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones. Furthermore, it is a city that perfectly mixes the local population with its tourists, since every year there are many who settle permanently for their comfort and for a lifestyle linked to the sea. If you decide to escape to this municipality just a jump from Malaga (10 kilometers), you may be the next to decide to stay.

The Plaza de la Costa del Sol and Calle San Miguel are a must to start getting to know Torremolinos. The first, located in the center of the municipality, has become after its pedestrianization a cultural reference with numerous exhibitions in the middle of the street. The second is an immense showcase where you can find all the gifts with which the tourist wants to return from Torremolinos.

The tour of the historical heritage of this municipality can begin with the Pimentel tower or Torre de los Molinos, which gives it its name. It was built by the Nasrid around the year 1300 within the defensive towers of the old kingdom of Granada and, at present, is registered as a Site of Cultural Interest.

The Casa de los Navajas is another of the monuments that give Torremolinos uniqueness. It is a residential palace whose interior is inspired by the Alhambra in Granada and which, after its remodeling and reopening in 2014, has become one of the enclaves best valued by tourists and has been declared of Historical Interest. Located next to the sea, tourists will also be able to contemplate the Monument to the Beaches.

The visit to this municipality can continue with the sculpture of the Rapture of Europe, the statue of Picasso or the Monument to the Tourist. As well as the churches of San Miguel and of the Virgen del Carmen, the Hotel Pez Espada and the old College of Orphans of Railways, headquarters of the Pablo Ruiz Picasso cultural center.

Torremolinos Spain New Year Beautiful Town & Beach Update January 2022 Costa del Sol | Málaga [4K]

Torremolinos used to be a small fishing village now turned into a large densely-populated town committed to sun and sand tourism that showcases large beaches and facilities related to it.

The town’s most noteworthy monument and icon is the famous Pimentel Tower that is found in Calle San Miguel. Some traces of the past can still be seen around El Bajondillo and La Carihuela districts.

The origins and name derive from a watchtower (torre) and the mills (molinos) built there to grind wheat, positioned perpendicularly to the ocean in order to harness the hydraulic power generated by the water flowing into it.

The coast was then subsequently fortified with castles and defensive towers. One of the most important defensive constructions was St. Clare’s Castle which was built in the second half of the 18th century on the site of the old fort. The castle since then has disappeared, and in its place a hotel complex was built.

From the year 1813 onwards, Torremolinos was an independent municipality, and it returned to the city of Malaga in 1924.

Later on, a new stimulus came during the second half of the 20th century which changed the whole look of Torremolinos and the population’s economic activities and lifestyle, when the progressive development of tourism in the 1960s created a transformation that turned the town into one of the world’s best-known holiday resorts.

On the 27th of September 1988, the Andalusian Regional Goernment, in response to the wishes of the town’s inhabitants, declared Torremolinos an independent municipality once again.

Marbella Spain Beautiful Christmas Holiday Season Update December 2021 Costa del Sol | Málaga [4K]

Marbella is culture, leisure and glamour, it is one of the most exclusive cities in the Mediterranean and the pride of the Costa del Sol. Twenty-five kilometers of coastline, four marinas, sixteen golf courses and a privileged climate, make it an incomparable destination .

Visiting Marbella is living a unique experience. From shopping in its luxurious boutiques to dining in its distinguished restaurants or having fun in its beach clubs, the possibilities are endless. Although if the priority is to relax, the city has around twenty thalassotherapy centers and spas, along with a first class hotel offer in its three main centers: Marbella, San Pedro de Alcántara and Nueva Andalucía-Puerto Banús.

The Plaza de los Naranjos, designed after the Christian conquest of Marbella, overlook the hermitage of Santiago, the Town Hall and the Casa del Corregidor, built between the 15th and 16th centuries. They are located in the historic center of the town, with its white houses and balconies full of flowers.

Near the square are the chapel of San Juan de Dios and the hermitage of Santo Cristo de la Vera Cruz, from the 16th century, as well as the church of La Encarnación, from the 17th century. The latter consists of three naves and its main door, carved in ocher stone in the Rococo style, is a true marvel.

On Avenida del Mar you can admire a collection of bronze sculptures by Salvador Dalí. This artery connects the Marbella promenade with the Paseo de La Alameda, designed in the 19th century.

Marbella has interesting archaeological sites, such as the Paleo-Christian Basilica of Vega del Mar, in San Pedro de Alcántara. The remains of the Roman town of Río Verde or those of a spa near Guadalmina also have some historical interest.

Walking Tour of Historic and Beautiful Málaga, Spain | An Unprecedented Summer

Málaga is a city of approximately 500,000 with a super historic center filled with a mix of muslim and christian historical sites. It’s also on the Mediterranean Coast which gives it beautiful views and a more tropical-like climate compared to the rest of interior Spain. Did you also know it’s the birth place of Pablo Picasso? This video shows some of those historic sites as well as some interaction with locals and tourists, mostly at Playa Malagueta. It’s a long video, but it was hard to not show so many interesting places. Enjoy!
