Frigiliana Spain Inside The Most Beautiful Village April 2023 Costa del Sol | Axarquía | Málaga [4K]

Just seven kilometres north of Nerja is the typical pueblo blanco of Frigiliana which sits high on a mountain ridge overlooking the sea with spectacular panoramic views.

Voted the ‘prettiest village in Andalucía’ by the Spanish tourism authority, Frigiliana is also important from an historical viewpoint. El Fuerte, the hill that climbs above the village, was the scene of the final bloody defeat of the Moors of La Axarquía in their 1569 rebellion. The hill is topped by scanty remains of a ruined fort from which some of the Moors reputedly threw themselves rather than be killed or captured by the Spanish. It is said that bones and rusted weapons dating from this encounter still lie among the scrub on El Fuerte.

Frigiliana is best explored by foot. There are several buses a day that run from Nerja or, alternatively, leave your car at the car park at the bottom of the hill. Although the village is deservedly on the coach tour circuit, thankfully it hasn’t yet succumbed to the demands of mass tourism with innumerable souvenir shops and overpriced bars.

The village is a tangle of narrow cobbled streets lined by whitewashed houses, their wrought-iron balconies filled with planters of brilliant red geraniums. Small plazas provide shady seating while the village bars are popular with visitors who come here to taste the locally produced wine. There are also several excellent shops selling pottery and ceramics, including decorative plates with their distinctive Arab design.

Blessed with a mild Mediterranean climate, this coastal-rural village has not only survived the influx of foreign residents who have made their homes here but also kept up with the area’s growth into a melting pot of different countries without losing a shred of its original charm.

Surrounded by nature and with plenty of options for exploring in the country as well as the seaside, Frigiliana is the perfect destination for those looking to keep away from the touristy crowds of the Costa del Sol and yet be within easy reach of everything it is famous for.

Nerja Spain Playa Burriana Memories of Summer 2022 Costa del Sol | Axarquía | Málaga [4K]

The Burriana beach is one of the most important beaches in Nerja. The beach has 800 meters in length and 40 meters in width with fine and golden sand and crystal clear waters.

This beach is a firm favorite among tourists and offers many services with a beautiful promenade with different variety of shops, restaurants and bars.

The famous “Ayo Restaurant,” located on the very beach of Burriana is one of the best. The restaurant has been cooking the best wood-fired paellas on the Costa Del Sol for more than 30 years. A mythical place that cannot be missed on any visit to Nerja.

One activity that is highly recommended is the sea kayaking. Playa Burriana offers different types of water sports activities like jetskis, kayaks, parasailing, and a diving center. Children’s play areas and volleyball courts are also available along with other amenities.

Nerja is situated at the eastern tip of the Costa del Sol, in the province of Malaga, 50 kilometres from the city of Malaga and within an hour and a half’s drive from Granada and the ski resort of the Sierra Nevada.

Sheltered by the impressive Sierra Almijara mountain range, Sierra Almijara, this once sleepy fishing village is now one of the most popular tourist resorts along the coast, with a population of over 12,000. The town has resisted too much re-development and high rise apartment blocks, preferring to stay a charming seaside town, attracting the more discerning holidaymaker; the town is often referred to as the ‘’Jewel of the Costa del Sol.’

One of the town’s most impressive attractions is the Balcón de Europa (the Balcony of Europe), a wonderful promenade, stretching along the edge of a soaring cliff top, which was once the location of a Moorish castle. The platform has spectacular panoramic views of the Mediterranean coastline, with its backdrop of mountains.

The deep Andalusian culture that the town exudes, perfect climate and cosmopolitan atmosphere, has made Nerja one of the most attractive holiday hotspots on the Costa del Sol.

The old quarter of the town is still virtually unchanged with narrow, winding streets, whitewashed houses with wrought iron terraces overflowing with geraniums, on which a canary can sometimes be heard singing.

As with most of Spain, Tapas is an integral part of the local cuisine, and there are lots of great tapas bars in and around Nerja. Nerja does have its own specialty dishes including De La Doncella (Red Mullet dish) and Pescaíto Frito (platter of fried fish). There are a wide variety of different cuisines on offer in Nerja; you will be spoilt for choice.

Nerja Spain Beautiful Town Update Early Summer 2022 Costa del Sol | Axarquía | Málaga [4K]

Nerja is situated at the eastern tip of the Costa del Sol, in the province of Malaga, 50 kilometres from the city of Malaga and within an hour and a half’s drive from Granada and the ski resort of the Sierra Nevada.

Sheltered by the impressive Sierra Almijara mountain range, Sierra Almijara, this once sleepy fishing village is now one of the most popular tourist resorts along the coast, with a population of over 12,000. The town has resisted too much re-development and high rise apartment blocks, preferring to stay a charming seaside town, attracting the more discerning holidaymaker; the town is often referred to as the ‘’Jewel of the Costa del Sol’.

One of the town’s most impressive attractions is the Balcón de Europa (the Balcony of Europe), a wonderful promenade, stretching along the edge of a soaring cliff top, which was once the location of a Moorish castle. The platform has spectacular panoramic views of the Mediterranean coastline, with its backdrop of mountains.

The deep Andalusian culture that the town exudes, perfect climate and cosmopolitan atmosphere, has made Nerja one of the most attractive holiday hotspots on the Costa del Sol.

The old quarter of the town is still virtually unchanged with narrow, winding streets, whitewashed houses with wrought iron terraces overflowing with geraniums, on which a canary can sometimes be heard singing.

Visitors can hire a horse-drawn carriage and explore the town’s most interesting streets and attractions. When in Nerja visits to the 17th Century Church of El Salvador and the Gardens of Capistrano Playa are essential.

There are plenty of restaurants and cafes here to choose from, and lots of lovely plazas (squares) where you can sit and watch the world pass by.

As with most of Spain, Tapas is an integral part of the local cuisine, and there are lots of great tapas bars in and around Nerja; order a drink and you will often receive a few tapa. does have its own speciality dishes including De La Doncella (Red Mullet dish) and Pescaito Frito (platter of fried fish). There are a wide variety of different cuisines on offer in Nerja; you will be spoilt for choice.

Torrox Costa is a popular seaside resort, which is linked to Torrox Pueblo, which is 4 kilometres inland from the coastal area.

The area is very popular with tourists during the summer, but still hasn’t got as built up as some of its counterparts of the Costa del Sol.

Much of the Torrox’s amenities: bars, restaurants and shops, can be found on the main Paseo Marítimo (promenade). During the summer market stalls set up selling various arts, crafts and souvenirs and there are supermarkets and banks in town for everyone’s convenience.

The town of Torrox offers a wide selection of good eateries and bars, the main leisure area being along the Paseo Maritimo and the side streets leading to the beach.

During the summer, some bars along the coast offer music shows and flamenco performances. And for the young at heart, there are a selection of pubs and discos.

Torrox Costa Spain Beach Walk Summer 2021 Sunset Costa del Sol | Axarquía | Málaga, Spain [4K]

Torrox has more than 9.5 kilometers (6 miles) of high quality beaches. Most of them have been awarded the prestigious blue flag. Along the promenade are cafe bars and restaurants, kiosks and shops that sell wide variety of items such as refreshments, clothes, souvenirs and so much more. There are also basketball and beach volleyball courts available. Hammocks and parasols for rent are also available, as well as water sports activities and equipment along the beach.

The beach has a familiar atmosphere with pleasant climate and moderate to huge waves. There is also an area made especially for dogs. Torrox Costa also has a large population of German and British tourists.
