How much does it actually cost to live in Málaga, Spain in 2026?
In this video, I break down our real monthly cost of living after one year of living in Málaga as a couple. We live in a small one-bedroom apartment in the historic center, about a 20-minute walk from the beach. We don’t own a car, we don’t pay for a gym membership, we cook most of our meals at home, and we usually go out once or twice a week.
This is not the cheapest possible way to live in Málaga, and it’s definitely not the luxury version either. It’s just our real budget as two people living pretty simply in the city center.
I cover our actual expenses, including rent, groceries, eating out, electricity, water, phone, internet, health insurance, transportation, household items, and the smaller costs that add up over the month.
Our rent is €950/month, our fixed monthly costs are around €1,120, and after tracking one full week of spending, I estimate that our normal monthly cost as a couple living in Málaga is around €1,700–€1,900/month.
A very disciplined month could be closer to €1,600–€1,750, while a more social or comfortable month could easily reach €2,000–€2,300, especially if you eat out more, travel, have visitors, or run into random life expenses.
So if you’re thinking about moving to Málaga, Spain, spending a few months here, becoming a digital nomad in southern Spain, or just trying to understand the real cost of living here, hopefully this gives you a more grounded idea of what daily life can actually cost.
This is not financial advice. It’s just one real example from our life after one year in Málaga.
