Mijas Pueblo Spain New Year January 2024 Update | Costa del Sol | Málaga [4K]

Mijas Pueblo is the historical core of the municipality of Mijas, situated in the heart of the Costa del Sol in southwestern Spain. It lies only 30 kilometres from Málaga Airport. It has a varied landscape that goes from the mountains all the way to the sea.

The area of Mijas is mostly mountainous with growing developments along the coast and on the gentler parts of the mountain slopes. The Pasadas and Ojen rivers cross this area, they join to form the Rio Fuengirola which flows into the sea almost on the limits between Fuengirola and Mijas.

The Municipality, one of the largest in the Province of Málaga, with 147 km² is divided into three different urban areas: Mijas Pueblo, conserving the charm of a traditional Andalucian “white village”, Las Lagunas on the coast (the most modern area of Mijas where you can find industrial and commercial areas), and La Cala, a small but rapidly expanding seaside village in the centre of the 12 kilometres of beaches on the Mijas coast.

Inhabited since ancient times, a small village Mijas was devoted mainly to agriculture and fisheries to the explosion of the tourist boom in the 1950s. Since then, tourism and construction sector have been the engines of local economy, triggering at the same time the population and per capita income, albeit at a high environmental cost. Today it is a multicultural city with a high percentage of residents of foreign origin and a major residential centers of tourism in Andalusia.

Spectacularly situated in mountainous countryside, Mijas Pueblo is a traditional Andalucian “white village” whose main economic income comes from tourism.

The beautiful little village of Mijas, considered as one of the jewels of the Costa del Sol, nestles comfortably in the mountainside at 400 meters above sea level about 10km from the coast. Of the ten thousand population, there are so many foreign and English speaking residents in and around the village that the Town Hall has a very helpful Foreigner’s Department.

When you wander through the narrow cobbled streets of this Andalucian village, you can understand what has attracted foreigners over the years. Many artists and writers have made it their home, enjoying the benefits of an excellent all year round climate, without being part of the busier, more commercial coastal towns just 7 kilometres down the mountain side. Despite its huge popularity with tourists, Mijas Pueblo has somehow managed to retain much of its traditional Andalucian way of life, the locals displaying their unabashed passion for all things festive and an unmistakable relaxed outlook.

Mijas Pueblo is located away from the coast and has a wide variety of restaurants and places to eat, including authentic, traditional Spanish restaurants as well as international ones. Fresh seafood is brought from the coast on a daily basis.

El programa visita la popular localidad malagueña de Torremolinos. Su presentador, Rafael Cremades, es el encargado, como siempre, de mostrar a los andaluces las costumbres y los encantos de este pueblo malagueño famoso por sus playas y por ser un referente de la Costa del Sol.
En esta ocasión, recordamos la figura de Marifé de Triana de la mano de Macarena Soto, una joven artista coplera que la conoció en vida. Macarena nos cuenta las anécdotas más emotivas que vivió con ella. La cantante y actriz Marifé de Triana residió sus últimos años de vida en este pueblo malagueño donde fue enterrada y donde aún la recuerdan como la gran artista que fue.
No es la única invitada del espacio de Canal Sur Televisión, también visitamos el santuario de Danza Invisible y volvemos a recordar sus grandes éxitos como ‘Sabor de amor’, una de las canciones que marcaron una época y que todavía suena en la memoria de muchos andaluces. Junto a ellos se vivirá un momento muy especial, pues le darán una sorpresa inolvidable a su mayor fan.
También se conocemos a Paco, el cocodrilo más grande de Europa que está en Cocodrilo Park. En este parque se pone a prueba a Rafa Cremades, pues su director lo invita a una zona prohibida y donde solo los más valientes se atreven a entrar.
