With a population of 70,000, Estepona is one of the few coastal towns that has succeeded in maintaining its pueblo charm and character. Notwithstanding, all the tourist facilities are here, including hotels, restaurants, leisure and cultural activities, and shops.

The numerous street cafes and tapas bars still serve traditional Spanish delicacies. In the ‘old town’ the steep, narrow streets are pedestrianised and decorated with different color flower pots. It is a delight for photographers. You will find bars and small shops in Estepona, where you’d least expect them, all very inviting and friendly.

Estepona is the fishing village with lots of character and an interesting history, reflected by the large number of fascinating old buildings in town. However if you are more interested in the present than the past, don’t worry, there is plenty for everyone to experience and enjoy.

Estepona is a rare coastal destination – one of the few towns on the Costa del Sol to have retained its character and traditional feel, despite the influx of tourism in this part of Andalucia.

The casco antiguo (old town) is what you’d expect from a picturesque Andalucian town – narrow, cobbled streets lined with beautiful stone houses and plazas, and walls ablaze with vibrant colour from the large variety of flora. This part of the town is truly beautiful and has the majority of tapas bars and Spanish restaurants, as well as most hostals or hostels.

In the cobbled streets of the old town you will find many good quality tapas bars and restaurants, serving the very best of authentic, traditional generally serving Spanish cuisine. In the summer evenings the terraces are full of diners. Stroll around the old town and you will also find a few hidden gems. Many restaurants are located around Plaza de los Flores and nearby Calle Santa Ana and Calle Castilla. On the east side of Calle de la Terazza the parallel streets of Calle Caridad and Calle Málaga have many restaurants all the way down to Plaza Ortiz.

It is popular with holiday visitors during the summer months. The port is home to a number of popular restaurants and bars that have later-opening licences than those in the old town, an all round Spanish family village atmosphere.

Estepona is renowned for its beaches, which stretch along some 21 km of coastline. It is a popular resort and holiday destination.

Due to its natural environment, surrounded by the sea and the mountains, Estepona has a micro-climate with over 325 days of sunshine per year.

Estepona is a town and municipality in the region of the Costa del Sol, southern Spain. It is located in the province of Málaga, part of the autonomous community of Andalusia. Its district covers an area of 137 square kilometers in a fertile valley crossed by small streams and a mountainous areas dominated by the Sierra Bermeja, which reaches an elevation of 1,449 m at the peak of Los Reales.

Estepona is a popular year-round holiday destination; it has two EC Blue Flag beaches, a modern sports marina with many tapas bars and restaurants. The white-walled town centre has many shops and picturesque squares. In the early 1990s, the Walt Disney Company chose Estepona as the original site for its Eurodisney project, but Paris, France, was later awarded the installation.

Estepona is one of the most popular destinations for both tourists and foreign residents alike on the Costa del Sol, yet even today it still manages to retain it’s old Andalusian charm. Located at the western end of the Costa del Sol at the foot of the Sierra Bermeja mountains.

For many years Estepona’s main economic industries were fishing, agriculture and cattle, and even today, remain an important income for many in the area. With its privileged setting, Estepona captivates visitors in each one or its parts. The revamped old town, one of the most beautiful in Andalusia, offers tourists the change to enjoy a true urban graden at “El Jardín de la Costa del Sol” (The Garden of Costa del Sol). Its maze of white streets, decked with colourful pots brimming with flowers, is the very essence of a coastal Andalusian town. Estepona conserves its customs and traditions and has blended them in seamless harmony with its modern and tourist-focused side.
