Located close to Málaga city, Fuengirola is one of the Costa de Sol’s most popular seaside resorts, with lots of great restaurants, extensive beaches and an enviable climate. Fuengirola is a firm favourite with families and couples.

Fuengirola has 7km of beautiful sandy beaches close to the town, offering excellent watersports facilities. You’ll find a wide range of restaurants and cafes to suit all tastes, as well as many boutiques, while the town’s traditional centre is located at Plaza de la Constitucion.

Fuengirola’s tourist journey began all the way back in the 1960s, and today it is one of the most popular holiday destinations on the Costa del Sol. The town was originally a fishing village, the centre of which is the Plaza de la Constitución, although the old fishing village isn’t visible today. These days, it mixes several kilometres of sandy beaches with a dollop of history in the form of the historic Sohail Castle, which dates back to Moorish times and is undoubtedly an impressive landmark of the town.

Modern high-rise apartments and hotels are a remnant from the 1970s and 80s but the town has undergone extensive investment to ensure it still is an attractive, compelling holiday destination.

The gourmet market in Fuengirola, Mercado La Galería, opened in February, 2016, but became a favourite place for locals and visitors to meet straightaway. Right in the heart of the town, between the Plaza de la Constitución and the sea, Arquitectos Martín have created an attractive space with a barrel-vaulted glass roof that lets the light flood in. Inside the structure, there are a dozen or so outlets with different specialities, flanking a central area with high tables and stools. The swirling blue and white murals with a Spanish gastronomic theme lend a fun, contemporary vibe.

Fuengirola is a mecca for partygoers and clubbers of all ages. Not only does it boast some of the best disco pubs and clubs on the Costa del Sol, but everything is situated close to the centre of town which is ideal for bar hoppers. Attracting thousands of tourists during the summer season, Fuengirola caters to all tastes and requirements.
