Torremolinos is one of the most iconic beach towns on the Costa del Sol, located just 13 km southwest of Málaga city. Originally a humble fishing village, it transformed into one of the first tourist hotspots in Spain during the 1950s and 60s. Today, it’s known for its golden beaches, vibrant nightlife, inclusive atmosphere, and blend of tradition and modernity.

The nightlife in Torremolinos offers various options for enjoying yourself at night, whether it’s summer or winter, although it’s currently during the high season when more people go out to party. The population of Torremolinos grows considerably during July and August.
Amongst the options to enjoy the nightlife in Torremolinos, one can go out for a meal or some tapas and then to a few pubs, discos and beach clubs along the Costa del Sol. Many years ago the lively area was Pueblo Blanco, located right in the center of Torremolinos, but now it has moved down to the seafront and in the center where all the pubs and discos aimed to the gay community are located, such as the Nogalera area.
Torremolinos offers a very varied and cosmopolitan atmosphere. You’ll find everything from British and Spanish pubs with live music, to large nightclubs with international DJs and beach clubs with themed parties. Diversity is one of its greatest attractions, ensuring options for all tastes and ages, especially in high season.
When it comes to British pubs, one can visit the Plaza de la Independencia, and the Spanish pubs are located at the Plaza de Costa del Sol.

La Carihuela is found in Torremolinos. An old seafaring neighborhood located to the west, most specifically in the south-west part of the town. It is a good place to walk because of its wide promenade where you can reach El Bajondillo until Los Álamos on one side, or Benalmádena Puerto Marina on the other.
The inhabitants of La Carihuela originally lived off the fruits of the sea: the delicious fish and shellfish provided by the Mediterranean at the extremes of Málaga Bay. However, the growth in tourism form the 1950s paved way to new possibilities – with restaurants and chiringuitos (local beach restaurants) opened where locals and tourists could enjoy the fresh fish.
Although the town has been modernised, the original essence of La Carihuela still remains today and that can be seen through the traditional shops and narrow alleys that are typical in Andalucía. The town also offers a wide variety of quality fish dishes, a gastronomy experience that must not be missed.
