Real Madrid only need a point in Malaga this Sunday to win a first La Liga title since 2012. Los Blancos lead bitter rivals Barcelona by three points, but the Blaugrana have a superior head-to-head record, so the leaders must avoid defeat at La Rosaleda Stadium.
As they so often do, Los Merengues will once again rely on Cristiano Ronaldo to deliver in a big game. The prolific No. 7 scored twice to help Real win their crucial game in hand in Celta Vigo on Wednesday and will be the key man for the leaders.
However, Real shouldn’t count on having things easy in Malaga. The hosts are a capable side and have produced some impressive results recently, including wins over Barca and UEFA Europa League semi-finalists Celta.
Real Madrid win their first LaLiga crown since the 2011/12 campaign and their 33rd in their history. Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema handed them the victory to leave them on 93 points for the campaign three ahead of Barcelona who are forced to settle for second place.
Real will now look ahead to the Champions League final at the beginning of June to complete a very successful term.

MALAGA VS ATLETICO MADRID PREDICTIONS, MATCH PREVIEWS
The Champions League will most likely be the priority over the remainder of the season for Atleti but they will be keen to finish well in La Liga too and try to secure 3rd place. They were convincing 3-1 winners against Sevilla, their only real rivals for that position, prior to the international break and ought to be able to come to La Rosaleda and win.
They don’t have a great recent record on the Costa del Sol but this Malaga side is not as strong as the ones in recent seasons. Indeed they could fall as low as 17th if they don’t win this match and they still have plenty of work to do to maintain their top flight status. Malaga have won just 1 of their last 17 matches in all competitions and they’ve had 3 different coaches during that spell, so it really has been a turbulent time for them. 10 of their last 14 games have ended in defeat so there is nothing about their current form that suggests they will get anything from this match.
Atleti by contrast are in reasonably good form, with 6 wins from their last 9 games and only 1 defeat in their last 11 in all competitions and that was against Barcelona. All their defeats this season in La Liga have come against sides currently in the top six so they’ve still been fairly consistently beating bottom half clubs and Malaga are certainly in that category right now.
Diego Simeone’s men also seem to have rediscovered their ability to play on the road of late. They haven’t lost any of their last 10 away games in all competitions. They should be close to full strength here and Antoine Griezmann is once again likely to be their main threat. He’s scored in their last 3 away games and has netted in 6 of his last 7 Atleti matches overall and was also on target for France during the international break. Given that, backing Griezmann to score anytime at Evens looks good here.
Malaga have been so poor over the past few months that you have to fancy the visitors to emerge victorious here and backing Atletico Madrid to win at 4/6 looks a decent bet.
