La Carihuela is a town found in Torremolinos. An old seafaring neighborhood located to the west, most specifically in the south-west part of the town. It is a good place to walk because of its wide promenade where you can reach El Bajondillo until Los Álamos on one side, or Benalmádena Puerto Marina on the other.

The inhabitants of La Carihuela originally lived off the fruits of the sea: the delicious fish and shellfish provided by the Mediterranean at the extremes of Málaga Bay. However, the growth in tourism form the 1950s paved way to new possibilities – with restaurants and chiringuitos (local beach restaurants) opened where locals and tourists could enjoy the fresh fish.

Although the town has been modernised, the original essence of La Carihuela still remains today and that can be seen through the traditional shops and narrow alleys that are typical in Andalucía. The town also offers a wide variety of quality fish dishes, a gastronomy experience that must not be missed.

As the gateway to Costa del Sol, Torremolinos is a modern city preserving the great charms of the Andalusian tradition. Here visitors enjoy more than 300 sunny days every year, comfortable temperatures (avg. 19ºC/66ºF) and 8 km of beaches along the sparkling Mediterranean. Away from the sea and sand, travelers can explore the old fisherman’s district of “La Carihuela,” or sample the city’s cuisine in hundreds of restaurants and bars.

Torremolinos is a municipality in Andalusia, southern Spain, west of Málaga. A poor fishing village before the growth in tourism began in the late 1950s, Torremolinos was the first of the Costa del Sol resorts to be developed and is still the most popular in the region.

The beach, which extends for nearly 8 kilometres, has cycle and skating lanes alongside the fully illuminated promenade and features many chiringuitos (beach bars/restaurants).

Torremolinos is a municipality in Andalusia, southern Spain, west of Málaga.

A poor fishing village before the growth in tourism began in the late 1950s, Torremolinos was the first of the Costa del Sol resorts to be developed and is still the most popular in the region.

Areas of the town are dotted with older high-rise residential buildings and hotels, but height limitations on new developments and a significant number of original old town properties have kept the town centre much more open than other popular resorts such as Benidorm and Fuengirola.

There are six main beaches in Torremolinos (west to east): Montemar, La Carihuela, Bajondillo, Playamar, Los Alamos, El Saltillo. The 7 km long promenade has undergone improvements with additional landscaping and wider pavements. All the beaches are linked by the promenade which forms part of the Malaga Coastal path.

La Carihuela is an old fishing district, located in the western area, southwest of Torremolinos. La Carihuela promenade is a wonderful place for a walk along the Mediterranean Sea.

Costa del Sol – the Sunny Coast – together with its hinterland of great heritage, Andalusia is one of the most typically Spanish parts of the Iberian Peninsula. Those living in Malaga or Marbella can take an excursion to Granada, Sevilla, Gibraltar or even Marocco. They can see the dream castle of Alhambra, “the stone jewel”, the Ronda bridge overarching a wild torrent, the “Balcon de Europa”, overseeing the romantic bays. Mijas, the 2600 year old mountain village awaits them with its cobbled, picturesque streets, white rows of houses and donkey-carts.
