Drug smuggling is nothing new on the coast. Since the 60s, there has been a heavy presence of drug smugglers operating in the area. This illegal activity still continues to this day, with many gangs controlling different regions and running their operations out of hidden locations.

  23. I lived in Marbella for 3 years, not for 1 single second did I or anyone I know worry about crime.

    It may exist amongst the criminals, but trust me, it's not like south central LA or something…

    People live incredibly peaceful lives there. This is overdoing the reality by quite a bit!

  25. To be honest, the real reason is way simplier. It is spanish speaking territory. During cold war the CIA fought everything that looked socialist or would buy a bolt from the Sowjets even if it was just because of the price tag. That way they devistated everything south of Texas and created an army of drug merceneries, but no save place. Spain had a fashist history and therefore the CIA was easily able to create a safe harbour for their most loyal top dogs way out of reach from Caribbean, Middle and South American nations or Resistance groubs.
    Like the Mujahedin turned Al-Quida and ISIS, the Mexican Kartells taking up Pablo Escobar, that tried to become president of Columbia for a socialist party, turned loos and even took turff in Marrocco to establish another route via Brazil and West Afrika.
    Considering that the CIA stated they will focus on West Afrika to fight Russian and Chinese influence, usually not by better and cheaper products, this area from Lagos to Casablanca and Marbella will see very soon way more vioalance, but maybe not visible for everyone.
    That would be covered operations actions and maybe some good Hollywood movies soon to come.
