On Holy Monday, April 14, 2025, Málaga’s streets came alive with one of the most vibrant spectacles of Semana Santa, as tens of thousands of participants and spectators gathered for the grand processions marking Holy Week. This annual commemoration of the Passion of Jesus Christ saw six revered brotherhoods (cofradías)—including the Brotherhood of the Crucifixion, the Gypsies, and the Sorrows of the Bridge—parade through the city with ornate thrones (tronos) weighing up to 5,000 kilos, carried by hundreds of devoted bearers. The processions, filled with penitents in nazareno robes, marching bands, and the scent of incense, drew massive crowds along the official 850-meter route from Alameda Principal to Granada Street.
