Six months ago, I made the big decision of moving to Spain, leaving behind everything familiar. Now, settled in malaga spain, I’m reflecting on my journey and the realities of expat life. Was this new chapter of living abroad the right choice, and what has living in spain truly been like?

  10. I moved to Barcelona on my own a few years ago and started with an intensive Spanish course, 4 hours per day for a month. After that , I went for 2 hours a day until I had good Spanish. I even ended up sharing an apartment with a girl in my class for a year. I was always interested in salsa dancing, so used to go to clubs on my own, which people found weird but it was through salsa that I made Spanish friends. I ended up staying for 3 years and definitely plan to return when I retire. Best of luck!

    Moving is tough as it is, but tougher when it’s a different country and culture. I hear that it gets better after a couple of years so we’ll see. Keep up the great work and hang in there!

  14. For all people who come here from abroad. My honest piece of advice as Spanish… Try to move here with your income from wherever you live.
    This is the best way to do It.
    Spanish salaries are quiet low on average.
