Not really… Just before the boss fight on the Cargo Ship, you have the chance to get it.
You will find her in any forest on the world map. She will even be in the first forest you come across which is just before you get to Junon for the first time, near Gongaga. Run around the forest for a while and eventually you will have to battle her. After you defeat her, you will have to answer a series of questions correctly and she will become a part of your party. Don't worry if you answer the questions incorrectly, just keep trying. Hope this helped.
Bad choice on getting Yuffie before the Shinra ship, you missed out on an All materia! I always wait til afterwards.

@Anonymous2335 I don't remember!!! Sorry, I just went ahead without that scene over to the next area (I think it was Red XIII's hometown; can't remember it's name, thoughhh!!! ><) , and the game worked just fine after I did that and I could progress without much problem!! I was SO HOOKED AND THEN… I got stuck in the 2nd disc in the part where u go to the Great Glacier and u have to traverse that white mass/map while leaving those flags behind!! I got lost and eventually quit playing.. HELP :'(
Yeah whenever I get into a battle the game starts freezing up for a couple of seconds now and then? the discs fine, help?
