Ministers are to allow International Travel from 17 May BUT Expensive Covid tests will still be required!
Ministers have given the green light for holidays abroad as early as 17 May, but ignored industry pleas to make trips affordable by cutting the cost of Covid tests for travellers.
Plans drawn up by a taskforce under transport secretary Grant Shapps will use a traffic light system to divide destinations into green, amber and red zones based on infection risk, with even arrivals from the safest countries required to take a test before departure and a PCR test after arrival, at a cost of as much as £200.

Pedregalejo is an old fishing district in the eastern side of the city of Málaga. Here you can find Baños del Carmen, an old spa made up of a central pavilion and a perimeter bathing area which was a former leisure space for the upper class during the 1920s. Now it is a restaurant filled with magnificent views of the ocean. The Pedregalejo Beach is an urban beach of dark sand located between Baños del Carmen and El Palo beach. It is about 1,200 meters long and 20 meters wide and is protected by stone breakwaters that make up six small coves. It is a very popular beach that has all kinds of services.
It’s a sunny and cheerful day today and I visited Pedregalejo this afternoon. People are having their lunches as they delight in the mild rays of sunshine. On my way to the Paseo Marítimo el Pedregal, I passed by Astilleros Nereo (Nereo Shipyards) which is a shipyard and maritime museum famous for its traditionally constructed wooden boats. I have also seen some wooden boats outside and they were amazing!
There are plenty of restaurants now open for everyone. They serve different varieties of Mediterranean cuisine and local foods as well. When you’re in the area don’t forget to try their famous tapas and “pescado frito” or fried fish of Málaga. They are very tasty! The abundance of lush palm trees and acacias provide shade for everyone who wants to relax under the Andalusian sun!
Playa Pedregalejo is kid-friendly as well. They have children’s playground to entertain the kids. Right next to the children’s park lies a big space and court where you can do some sports activities like beach soccer or beach volleyball.
I ended the tour at the bridge over Arroyo Jaboneros, which is a river that separates Pedregalejo and El Palo. For there you can actually see the El Palo beach that is very near as well as the other side of the east district.

I don't mind to have test before and after and would rather give NHS 50 quid for the test than pay private rip off companies
This reminds me of that program can’t pay Weil take it away ✈️😂
Traffic light system is Green – rich / minister, Not green – pleb. Holidays are meant to be relaxing – this is anything but
Jet2 has cancelled all flights till end of june because of the goverment 😥
Just bought a Vw camper sod them prices 😂
This is all to softly reinforce covid passport/health status certification use.
It's all very well the UK government giving potential dates and destinations –the authorities where you plan to fly to might not want you there!!!
Jet2 have suspended flights not cancelled flights. Big difference !!
Do you really think there will be any more unrestricted travel again.
Thanks for the info. Sadly it's looking more and more like next year before we'll be going again. Everything is going to be so expensive. I would rather save up and have a longer one in 2022
I wouldn’t be in a hurry to go just yet, personally I’m going to wait and watch people go and comeback with little fuss then il think about booking but might just wait until next year for 100% normality, last thing anyone wants is to pay over the odds for a holiday get there and a lot of it is closed still
I thought the idea of having a vaccine to cut out tests.
Unfortunately I have always said i will be WINTER 2021 at the earliest for Mr and Mrs J Bloggs and family to get over to Tenerife. There are 2 lots of hoops to jump through. The UK's rules and Spains rules also.
Worth £200 to see Daniel again
Are you going then Lee in May?
So the real truth is it's all about money
Hey Lee, where’s the new Porche?
Once again the cart is going before the horse. It was only a couple of weeks ago your government sources said there would be no holidays abroad until july at the earliest. Lets all just wait for facts not paper talk. Stay positive

Thanks Lee. Discussion with Greg Schnapps being interviewed on talk radio today on link below (scroll forward to 3 hours and 1min on YouTube recording)
