Too many Expats, too many senior citizens, too many immigrants .
Yeah, Spain is cheaper, but what value are you adding to the community? What are you going to do there?Just casual gentrifying or…something else?
Why do the British and the Americans call themselves “expats” when they are simply immigrants like everyone else who lives outside the their own country?
Stop being so “snob” and start calling yourselves immigrants as it is the truth.
Whether you do it for a more comfortable life in a Mediterranean country, or because your country is more expensive and cold, if you go to live in another country, you are not an “expat”, you are an immigrant, period.
Expat means something different. An expat is usually a person who was forced to live out of their country for political or legal reasons.
If you decide to live in a different country, learn to respect the people and the local culture, instead of trying to transform the local environment.
Learn Spanish or whatever is the case, and don’t sell a false narrative to attract other “expats” who don’t want to adjust and learn the language and the culture.
I have learned through the years that wherever the British and the American “expats” go to live, the ruin everything, and are bad news for the locals, due to their attitude, gentrification, lack of knowledge and lack of empathy with the locals and their culture.

Estapona is not cheap, I lived there for over a year, Property is very expensive, forget renting, No such thing in Estapona, And living costs there arent cheap either, Apain in general is getting more and more expensive now, as far as the days of spain being a cheap place to rerire, Those days are gone.
