Los Boliches Fuengirola Spain Pleasant Day April 2024 Update Costa del Sol | Málaga [4K]

With a history going back to the Phoenician and Roman times, Los Boliches has for many years been a fishing village and still holds strongly with its traditions. Now it is favored by many foreigners and Spaniards alike to set up home. Los Boliches has indeed retained much of its original charm unlike some other parts of Fuengirola where it is dominated by high apartment blocks.

The site of archaeological remains of a salting factory is a reminder of the area’s rich historical past. The Phoenicians and then the Romans have lefts plenty of evidence of their settlements and lifestyle.

Los Boliches boasts some of the finest beaches in Fuengirola. Many holidaymakers come all-year round to enjoy this popular beach resort area.

The most lasting heritage in Los Boliches is the tradition of the fishing folks who have lived there through the generations. Until today, fishermen catch fresh fish which is then served in ‘chiringuitos’ and restaurants and bars.

Striking the right balance between expat convenience and Spanish authenticity, Fuengirola delivers an intriguing melting pot of cultures, where it is not uncommon to see British, Irish, Nordic and German inhabitants mingling with the local Spanish population, creating a cultural cocktail that is almost unique on the Coast.

While fast-food cafés are highly visible, their numbers are more than matched by traditional tapas bars, classic chiringuitos, inviting Irish pubs and a fair collection of Scandinavian bars and eateries.

A look inside any one of the aforementioned establishments will also surprise – the clientele is equally diverse and eclectic, with both holidaymakers and locals at ease with one another, lending the entire town a warmth that is unusual for such an evidently transient destination.

Easily accessible, bathed in beautiful sunshine for pretty much 10 months of the year, affordable and lively, Fuengirola’s unassuming reputation belies its undeniable charm.

Along the promenade, Fuengirola exhibits a decidedly tourist atmosphere. This vast stretch is dotted with gift shops selling trinkets, beach equipment, sun lotions, magazines, newspapers and ice creams, alongside bars and cafés ranging from pizza parlours and all-day-breakfast establishments to bistros, a la carte restaurants and chiringuitos specialising in the freshest fish and seafood.

Fuengirola Spain Relaxing Town November 2023 Update Costa del Sol | Málaga [4K]

Fuengirola is one of the coastal towns with the best infrastructure on the Costa del Sol, and a fantastic destination if you are traveling with your family. In addition to having a series of wide sandy beaches along its seven kilometers of coastline, it also offers a zoo, a water park and a mini-amusement park near the city for the little ones to have a great time.

The beautiful promenade that separates the sandy beaches of Fuengirola and the city’s coastal road is not usually very crowded. Paved with its characteristic bricks, it is one of the longest promenades in Spain. It has an extension of seven kilometers that occupies most of the coast of the city, with fantastic views of the Mediterranean Sea. You can easily access any area of the beach, as well as the bars and restaurants along the promenade, which also has a bike lane shaded by rows of palm trees.

Fuengirola has large white sand beaches. Each of them offers a large area for sunbathing next to the Mediterranean Sea. In front of the Sohail castle, for example, you will find a beach that is usually quite calm. If you continue along the promenade, you will reach the beaches of Santa Amalia, the popular San Francisco, Los Boliches and Torreblanca, each of which has sun loungers and beach bars on the sand, as well as a good range of water activities.

In the Fuengirola marina you will find a variety of bars in which to hang out. During the summer months, especially on weekend afternoons, you are likely to see street musicians playing in this square.

Fuengirola has become one of the favorite destinations for tourists who come to the province of Málaga thanks to the significant development of its infrastructures. This municipality, which belongs to the Costa del Sol Occidental, is located in the center of the Costa del Sol coastline and its easy access from anywhere facilitates the arrival of many tourists throughout the year.

If you are looking for a vacation on the beach without the hustle and bustle of the big cities, but with all its services, we recommend that you check everything that Fuengirola can offer you.

Fuengirola’s promenade stretches for 8 kilometers, which makes it one of the longest in Spain. The walk runs through the beaches of the municipality along with great bars, restaurants, terraces, hotels and shops.

The Castle of Sohail is one of the main tourist attractions of Fuengirola. Its views of the Mediterranean and the nearby Sierra de Mijas are fantastic. Abderramán III had the castle built in 956. Today, the site serves as the setting for numerous concerts and cultural events.

The Fuengirola Bullring, inaugurated in 1962, hosts every season all kinds of bullfighting and equestrian festivities, among which the national horse-drawn carriage and carriage competition stands out.

The archaeological site of the Finca del Secretario is also worth visiting. The discovery of this Roman enclave took place in the 70s. In it, remains from between the 1st and 5th centuries AD were found, including an alfar, some thermal baths and a salting factory. The site has an interpretation center where the rooms of the hot springs that have been recreated stand out.

The area has some delightful walks and eagles, wild boar and black squirrels can be seen in the surrounding countryside. Fuengirola is a beautiful town and municipality on the Costa del Sol in the province of Málaga, in the autonomous community of Andalucía in southern Spain. It is located on the central coast of the province and integrated into the region of the Costa del Sol and the Commonwealth of Municipalities of the Costa del Sol Occidental.

It is a major tourist resort with more the 8 kilometers (5 miles) of beaches and a medieval Moorish fortress. The area has subtropical Mediterranean climate with temperatures reaching from 18ºC to over 30ºC during the summer.

Fuengirola has a number of historical sites and open parks, and as well as the old port that is still used by the local fishermen. At the seafront, many high-rise blocks of flats can be found, and many narrow streets are filled with low-rise villas.
